Milagu Thokku or Pepper curry, Step by Step Recipe with pictures - Hot rice glazed with a dollop of ghee, accompanied with this milagu thokku or pepper curry and roasted pappads, hmmmm nom nom.. that was lunch at my end, whats yours? Oh wait, you are drooling now! Few words for my mom -   She is my role model, a strong independent woman who cares for the needs of children. Never been angry. she is my inspiration in cooking. I love her with all my heart.

Step 1 - Dry roast pepper, coriander seeds, channa dhal, red chillies, pinch of fenugreek until they change colour slightly and the aroma comes out.

Step 2 - Cool the spices and grind them into a fine powder.

Step 3 - Heat a thick bottomed pan, I prefer to use a clay pan. Add oil and once the oil is hot, add mustard, fenugreek seeds. Once they splutter, add onions and garlic. Saute them until they turn golden.

Step 4 - Add the ground powder. Let the masala cook in oil, in a low flame.

Step 5 - Once the oil leaves the masala, add the tamarind extract. Allow the curry to boil for next 5 minutes in medium flame. And you are done :)
